# 8 DOM manipulatie

Het Document Object Model of kortweg DOM is een W3C-standaard die de structuur van een HTML-document beschrijft. Hierdoor wordt het mogelijk om via een scripttaal zowel de inhoud als de structuur en de stijl van een object te wijzigen.

In voorgaande hoofdstukken hebben we al enkele eigenschappen van een object aangepast. Denk maar aan de methodes `css()` en `addClass()`. In dit hoofdstuk gaan we nog een stap verder en gaan we eveneens objecten toevoegen, wijzigen, wissen en klonen.
